Case Study - Website Makeover

Healthpoint Ltd

  • healthpoint - old website
  • healthpoint - photos
  • healthpoint - new site

The image of a business is important, it's a new customers first impression. It can be a deciding factor in whether they will do business with you.

The Brief

Bob at Healthpoint Ltd needed a complete refresh of his company website. The sites copyright mark was dated 2005 and was well overdue for a makeover. It was realised by the company that a professional appearance was required online to reflect their quality healthcare product range. As part of their business was international, it was of vital importance to have a professional online presence.

Part of the brief was to discard the old pdf brochure on their website and replace with html pages which could easily be navigated. Their in-house designer would be assigned the task of updating the site html in future, so this also needed to be taken into consideration.

The Solution

The original website required file structure organisation, some pages were not required and other content could be merged with other pages. Navigation was streamlined and drop down menus were removed, as they were cumbersome and unnecessary. The best approach for the product categories was to remove it from the main navigation and include it as 'extra' navigation in the side bar. This would give an immediate quick reference to Healthpoint's product range, giving users more comfortable and streamlined access to product navigation.

It was advised by JMC Website Design that the Healthpoint product range could be visually enhanced by using professional photography on their site. This was further improved by creating an animated page banner which cycled through products related to a specific page. The banner content was managed by plain html, making it easier for the in-house designer to modify as necessary. Html in the page body was structured simply for the designer with limited knowledge, to adjust where appropriate. Navigation elements were organised into separate files, minimising html clutter and improving readability.
