Case Study - Branding
Bridie Philpotts Associates
A customer website, business cards, brochure and brand package within a restricted timeframe.
The Brief
Bridie Philpotts required a boost to her online presence and needed to create a recognisable brand for her business. She used Linked in to network regularly, and required professional print materials for handout at specific events. One of the products needed was a brochure which summarised the services available and strengthen the brand - which would be reflected in the Bridie Philpotts business website and business cards. As an added pressure, the whole project needed to be delivered in time for a presentation Bridie had for an upcoming networking event. A domain address was required, as were new email addresses to replace the existing free '@btinternet.com' accounts. This would re-enforce Bridie's professionalism in her field of business. This would be particularly important for working with larger, corporate clients.
For her website, Bridie needed something visually appealing (with some graphic motion) without being too heavily text based. The new brand would need to be recognisable and consistent across the different media provided. Chosen colour was primarily gold, with a professional font although not necessarily a serif font such as times roman.
The Solution
Bridie's brand had to accurately reflect her business and work ethic. From certain elements of her provided content, and through consultation with her in person, ideas were created to paint a picture of her business. Key points were that Bridie Philpotts Associates were professional, but in a friendly, intuitive and approachable manner. The business is people orientated and the branding had to reflect this. To establish a consistent brand though the different media, the same visual concepts were used in the website banners and brochure.
As a colour concept, the Sun is a key factor in growth of all things, so the brands overall colour scheme and use of gradients hinted at this. The colour scheme being considered warm, vibrant and inviting – also reflective of Bridie Philpotts Associates. Each banner was specific to a different subject, but the concept which bound them together was one of growth, development, and self improvement. Tag lines were used on the website to help summarise and give context to what the visitors were reading.
It was important to Bridie that the website structure was not too 'text heavy' and would retain the interest of visitors. It was decided that users would be invited to 'read more' on each page by themselves, rather than having to take in a whole page content at once.
The completion of the project couldn't have been more perfect. Business cards were delivered, website was signed off, and Bridie having received her printed brochures the day before her networking event.
